Artist Statement

“ My curiosity was born at a young age while helping my father around the house fixing, using his tools, and being  his little handy girl. This shaped how I am as an artist and , as I continue to migrate between the “ handy girl” and the artist, I started to develop my work in image-making, sculpting, printmaking, and more”.

Multimedia, experimental Qatari, female artist, based in Doha.

My practice and research starts from the heart of the Arab regions mainstream culture; TV shows, plays and music, with particular  interest in the 1960-70s period. I deal with concepts of narration, story retelling and reminiscing of a past that doesn’t belong to me, but is part of me.

In my studio I lead an experimental approach to art making, my work is developed through a process of experimenting with materials and technology, that develops into art objects, paintings, drawings, prints, and sculptures, as creative ideas.
